Big Project, funny story
Well we are working on our biggest project yet! I should not tell you the details because it may not happen… It does involve us finally looking for funding. I will tell you one part of the story.
We met with a couple that is seriously interested in being our angel investors and the next day met with a local banker. After leaving the bank and really thinking how much we don’t want to be involved with banks in general (our banker is an amazing woman and banks do serve purpose) we stopped to get a bite to eat at one of our favorite local eateries (ionic burrito!) One of the world most famous and talented people was finishing his meal. I (being pregnant) had to use the bathroom (as usual.) In the bathroom a still small voice whispered, “Present to him your business plan.” Of course my thoughts all said “No… You’ll annoy him…. Nathan would be embarrassed… your copy of your business plan that you are carrying doesn’t have all the extra print collateral… yatta yatta yatta…” I took a deep breath and decided it didn’t matter if this man rejected me, laughed at me, or plain threw my business plan in his fire (unlikely since it is 95 degrees outside.) I decided to follow the still small voice and practice some boldness… If he was still out there I will approach him. I opened the door and he was standing staring at me (not waiting for the woman’s bathroom mind you :))
So what did I do? I exercised my boldness and asked him if he ever invested in business. Yes my family may laugh at me, but if I can pitch him my 3-minute elevator pitch, then I can do it to anyone…
Thought you might enjoy that story! No I will not tell you his name… What if he ends up investing in our business and wants to remain silent!!!

Movie’s to watch
Hello my friends,
Last night Nathan and I watched “Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars,” a documentary about a group of musicians that formed in a refugee camp. The movie was totally inspiring. To show people who have faced such hardship and still can find the voice to sing. What courage….
Last week we watched “The Business of Being Born,” an expose on the American way of birthing our children. Nathan and I have wanted to produce a documentary similar to this one, so the information came as no surprise; however, we feel the subject still needs to be discussed further.
Anyways… Enjoy the spring rains

Paper flower kit
Guess what Martha Stewart just put out…. a how to make paper flower kit! Now you may think I feel threatened, but the more people who know about paper flowers the better. Martha is brilliant but the paper flowers she is selling is the same thing Dennison Crepe Paper Company taught during the depression. Martha is capitalizing on someone else’s idea. When she sees our paper flowers I hope she supports us and doesn’t steal our idea as well!

The robins are here!
How exciting signs of spring have arrived. I know, I know it’s not even March yet, but my daffodils are poking up their heads and lady bugs are waking up! Yeah
Of course paper flowers are always blooming in our studio. Right now we are preparing for Custer’s 31st annual spring show and we are doing a rainbow theme this season. It is really fun!! You will have to come and see

Working Mother
Raising children is a full time job. What a joy they are, watching them grow, learn, play…. They have such good questions. They talk all day. I love building our business around them. I wonder to myself “What will they be like when they are old?” The other day James said to me “Mommy, when I’m big like Dad I’m going to find a wifey just like you!” I was so blessed all I could do was hug and kiss him. If you ever call me, you may hear them in the background and I will not apologize. They are apart of me. I am proud of them.

It’s hard not to get too excited
So many great opportunities keep arising it is hard not to get too excited. The bridal festival went amazing this weekend! Our response was incredible. Some amazing connections were made including booking a bride who is getting married at the Isabella Ballroom at the Davenport Hotel, (www.thedavenporthotel.com) who has a world award winning photographer, who works for Martha Steward. The photographer is shooting the wedding for a Seattle magazine.
The thing is you can’t think about it… Nothing has happened yet, and might not. Big things are in the air like HGTV airing in the spring. You have to keep the day to day going and not focus on these potentially awesome events.
I wonder…. Does anyone read these blogs?
